Today at the 6th International AJAX World RIA Conference & Expo in San Jose, CA, Pieter Humphrey of Oracle presented a hugely popular session on Rich Enterprise Applications...what he calls (inevitably) REAs to a packed General Session.

Pieter Humphrey of Oracle gave a hugely popular general session on Monday,
October 20, on Rich Enterprise Applications, in San Jose, California
It is easy to forget that Oracle, most often associated with its CEO Larry Ellison, also has tens of thousands of other dynamic members of its staff.

Pieter Humphrey, who came to Oracle recently by way of its acquisition of BEA Systems, ran the dev2dev community at BEA and continues to with work with Oracle OTN and Eclipse Foundation communities. His current role is focused on application development tools like Oracle Enterprise Eclipse Pack, Oracle Workshop for WebLogic, JDeveloper, TopLink and the ADF framework, and he is a frequent speaker at industry events and workshops.

Humphrey talked about this new standards-based development platform for AJAX/JSF, Adaptive Rendering, and Web 2.0 style-services built on ADF Faces Rich Client and Oracle WebCenter Services.

"ADF Faces introduces a standards-based, framework-driven approach to the rich user interface that delivers 150+ JSF/AJAX components," he said. "This single framework approach can holistically address not only the mobile device and web application tier, but also the enablement of enterprise systems with Web 2.0 - style capabilities."

In a session rich with demos, Humphrey took the MLS platform for a road test. He showed off its ready-to-go components for data visualization, data manipulation, geomapping, dynamic client layer rendering that users are clamoring for...and delegates here in San Jose, CA, too by the look of the attendance figures!
