IntaPeople opens London office to focus on boom in data and infrastructure roles

Specialist IT recruitment firm IntaPeople has opened a new office in London to concentrate on the surge of data management and infrastructure roles in the capital.

IntaPeople has seen a clear rise in client demand for technical specialists in Big Data, IT infrastructure, Data Warehousing, and Data Analytics.

Gareth Davies, Head of IntaPeople Data Management, commented: “This is a young, technical and constantly evolving sector, full of challenges. But it has enormous potential.

IntaPeople has concentrated on recruitment in the IT, Engineering and Data Centre sectors from its headquarters in Cardiff since 1994, and last week revealed a partnership with Alert Logic to help build the European headquarters of the American cloud security firm in Cardiff.

Phil Handley, Operations Director, commented: “We have been closely monitoring this sector for several years and our consultants are spending an increasing amount of time with clients in London. Now is the right time to open an office.”

One goal of the new IntaPeople presence is to demystify the space of data management and infrastructure for clients.

Gareth Davies continued: “Worldwide 24-hour connectivity means an unprecedented volume of data is generated every day, but many large organisations are still wrestling with infrastructure concerns and the implications of how data can improve operations. This is why businesses are demanding the best talent available.

“There are a lot of new terms and new job titles. From the ‘data scientist’ who can translate a high volume of data into effective information by analysing it in multiple ways, to econometricians employed to forecast customer spending. There are also interchangeable names for the same role, which can be confusing.”

But by working in the field day-to-day, IntaPeople consultants have a comprehensive understanding of the titles, concepts, practical applications and available talent, which is considerably better than most.

IoT & Smart Cities Stories
The challenges of aggregating data from consumer-oriented devices, such as wearable technologies and smart thermostats, are fairly well-understood. However, there are a new set of challenges for IoT devices that generate megabytes or gigabytes of data per second. Certainly, the infrastructure will have to change, as those volumes of data will likely overwhelm the available bandwidth for aggregating the data into a central repository. Ochandarena discusses a whole new way to think about your next...

Cell networks have the advantage of long-range communications, reaching an estimated 90% of the world. But cell networks such as 2G, 3G and LTE consume lots of power and were designed for connecting people. They are not optimized for low- or battery-powered devices or for IoT applications with infrequently transmitted data. Cell IoT modules that support narrow-band IoT and 4G cell networks will enable cell connectivity, device management, and app enablement for low-power wide-area network IoT. B...

When talking IoT we often focus on the devices, the sensors, the hardware itself. The new smart appliances, the new smart or self-driving cars (which are amalgamations of many ‘things'). When we are looking at the world of IoT, we should take a step back, look at the big picture. What value are these devices providing. IoT is not about the devices, its about the data consumed and generated. The devices are tools, mechanisms, conduits. This paper discusses the considerations when dealing with the...
