TeamMCPc Sets $120,000 Record With Cycling Events for Charity

TeamMCPc, Flagship Group of MCPc Family Charities, Raises a Record $120,000 for Multiple Causes

CLEVELAND, OH--(Marketwired - August 15, 2013) - TeamMCPc, the flagship group of MCPc Family Charities, announced today that throughout its riding season, it raised more than $120,000 worth of cash and in-kind donations for several charitable causes. This fundraising effort represents a high-water mark for the nationwide group, trumping the 2012 campaign in both funds raised and riders participating.

TeamMCPc's cycling group is made up of 130 MCPc employees, partners, friends and family members. MCPc employees and affiliates also participate in many TeamMCPc fundraising events apart from cycling, including running, walking, and golf. TeamMCPc is the active fundraising arm of MCPc Family Charities, the independent charity supported in large part by MCPc, Inc.

"We set out to make an impact, and didn't worry too much about the numbers," said Andy Jones, senior vice president of sales at MCPc and TeamMCPc captain. "I am enormously proud of our employees and partners. Their participation, volunteering, and contributions are unbelievably meaningful," Jones said.

TeamMCPc's summer cycling season included 8 events across the Midwest, including several major-participant events such as the Tour De Cure and the Pan Ohio Hope Ride, benefitting the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Society, respectively. TeamMCPc received numerous accolades from these charities, as TeamMCPc's work represented top-10 fundraising efforts nationally in both events. In a recent communication to TeamMCPc, Dr. John Seffrin, the chief executive officer of the American Cancer Society, commented on TeamMCPc's efforts in the Pan Ohio Hope Ride, saying, "I want you to tell your employees, for me: they are lifesavers. They are helping us save more lives from cancer…and this ride of hope is helping us get closer to [saving] 1,000 lives per day, and we thank you. Heartfelt thanks." That message can be found on the TeamMCPc web site.

TeamMCPc is also integrated into the corporate wellness program at MCPc. Beth Stec, vice president of human resources and corporate communications, has lauded TeamMCPc from a health and wellness perspective, saying: "We view TeamMCPc as having broad benefit. Our employees want to contribute to the community, they want to stay healthy, they want to have low cost of health care. TeamMCPc answers all of those needs, and more. The MCPc leadership has done a phenomenal job integrating the activities of TeamMCPc throughout our day-to-day operations. This mission of wellness and charity pervades our business -- and we are quite proud of the accomplishment."

Contributions to TeamMCPc have come from a variety of sources, including many business partners of MCPc. A representative list of corporate contributors includes the following organizations:

1E, APC, Arrow, Cisco, Citrix Corporate, CommVault, Dell (Wyse), EnterMarketing, Hewlett-Packard, Lenovo, NetApp, Samsung, Schneider Electric, Sram, Tip Capital, WhipTail, VMware

TeamMCPc is seasonally transitioning from cycling towards more events, including walking, jogging, and running; as well as becoming more involved with other pursuits of MCPc Family Charities. TeamMCPc's activity is based on the direction of MCPc Family Charities, who organizationally seek to contribute to causes which help fight disease and aid families and children in need.

More information about TeamMCPc, including ways to make tax-deductible contributions to the causes they support, can be found on their Facebook and Twitter feeds, as well as on TeamMCPc.com.
